Prepare to launch...SAABs @ Carlisle 2010 Registration is now LIVE!

Sorry for the delays in getting things on-line this year, but as you are all painfully aware, Thanksgiving has already arrived this year, compliments of our friends at Spyker and Victor Muller. Several of the dealers who support us and this great event were clinging to life support towards the end of the Koeniggsegg fiasco, but it is a much brighter future that we have to look forward to, and we are planning to do our 10th Anniversary of SAABs @ Carlisle even bigger than in previous installments.

The pre-registration link can be found here

Please get your pre-registration in early this year. You have until 11:59PM on April 18th, so stop dawdling and get on with it. You know you want to be there with all your friends, so don't miss it.

We will be serving up the same great food, and lots of it, compliments of Sutliff Cadillac Hummer SAAB in Harrisburg, PA. The Saturday night SAABarbeque will be sponsored by Kelly Cadillac SAAB in Lancaster, PA. Catering services for all meals will be provided by Mike Beare and The Corvette Grille in Annville, PA. We are still working to finalize several other sponsors, and will make announcements once we have them on board.

So what's new this year? How about a Drive-in movie on Saturday night...on the showfield? Yes, we'll be parking cars on the show field for a drive-in style movie. Bring a blanket or lawn chair is you want to sit on the grass. You bring the beverages, The Central Penn SAAB Club will be providing the popcorn (the Twizzlers and gummy bears are on you). The main feature will be a car-themed movie, and we'll also be showing some short videos, such as Pike's Peak and other rally/racing videos.

There are still alot of things still up in the air with SAAB and the change of ownership. We hope to hear more from our dealers after their meeting at the end of the month. Current SAAB new car inventories are very low, so we hope that we will still have some new cars on display.

What about the Heritage Collection display? Not surprisingly, I get this question asked quite frequently. I am told that no one seems to know right now if they are available, or how we can secure their visit to the show. I do know that it is being pursued, but until my sources report back to me, I think it is highly doubtful to see them at Carlisle again this year. If anything changes, I will let everyone know through our normal communication channels.

So, for everyone who has been to Carlisle before, thank you for you support. For anyone reading this who hasn't been to Carlisle, there has never been a better time to come to the event. We were the largest SAAB event in North America last year; we have some of the greatest car people in attendance anywhere waiting to meet you, and you will not leave hungry...that's my personal guarantee.

Our Constant Contact e-newsletter will be going out shortly to all prior years; newbies should send me your e-mail address and I can add you to the distribution list for all the updates.

Last season's episodes of Burn Notice would be cool, considering that they are using a CR-V or some darn thing...anyways we were thinking along the lines of a double feature: Maybe Cars, followed up by Used Cars. We have some short feature videos to start and for intermission; Robby Gordon's 1989 run up Pike's Peak is a favorite of mine...also SAAB's Viggen Pike's Peak video is good too.

If anyone has some suggestions, please post them up: They must be car-themed. Some other favorites are:

<> Used Cars
<> Bullitt
<> Getaway in Stockholm, I thru 10
<>Grand Prix
<> LeMans
<> C'était un rendez-vous
<> Cars
<> World's Fastest Indian
<>Ronin (not a car movie, FANTASTIC chase scenes)
<> Speedway
<>Duel
<>Gumball Rally
<>The Cannonball Run
<>Winning
<>The Last American Hero
<> Gone in 60 Seconds
<>Christine

April 18th is only the deadline for pre-registration. After that date, you will need to contact me and I can advise you on how to register (either through CPSC or at the gate).

You know, I can't say enough about Carlisle as a consistent good time.

Hopefully, TurboDog will be back with me by then because if she doesn't at least get to collect a hotdog or a hamburger and hang with Tweek, well, I'd never hear the end of it.

Liz will be attending on Saturday most likely, hopefully her and TurboDog will get along.

Also Marc, for movies, Speed Zone is a good classic car film, (its a sequel of sorts to the cannonball run incase you've forgotten). Has John Candy, Eugene Levy, Brooke Shields, and some other decent names.

Marc how about the Italian job, the good one with Michael Caine. I think Ron might like it.
