Thanks. I'm picking it up Saturday. It has a dent in the quarter and some deep scratches in the rear bumper. He said they would fix those issues but won't be perfect. It's black so it shouldn't be too hard to blend. If it's not right I'll either walk away or maybe get it fixed myself. This is a bad picture but you can see it here. I can fix any swirls or fine scratches but the buffer won't fix dents.

"service theft alarm" Just keep pressing clear till the alarm starts randomly going off, then replace the alarm batteries or replace the alarm module.

Looks like a nice car, I am still somewhat confused why you didn't buy this car the first time around. HID's & vented seats, right? I would upgrade my 99 9-5 for one with those options, but it needs to be a light color MT car, and I'd prefer in dash Navi too. Wagon would be nice, but I don't mind the sedan one bit, and it's 300 lbs lighter. my 99 9-5 has been almost as reliable as my old Pontiac Sunbird. Only ever towed twice... Sunbird, never.

Would I be able to just shut it off or replace it with an after market one with remote start? Or is it in there for life?

I would avoid aftermarket remote start units... There is a fair chance it will just catch the car on fire. You can totally disable the alarm system if you wish, just need to pop down to Bill Mosiers place sometime either me or Shore is there and we can turn it off. Alternatively you can turn the "beep beep" off entirely and keep the alarm.

Moved my skate team reunion for it! Not sure how to camp in a 9-5 though. The SPG was perfect for that. I don't want to buy a tent just for this. Will there be parts for sale there? I don't remember much for sale there last time I went. I need to buy a DI to sit in my roadside case along with the flares and tow rope.

I got you covered on the DI - bring something to trade.

As for the Car-Camping - I highly recommend it as I can't remember when it hasn't rained at Carlisle. I gave up on tents for the fact it always rains. Air Mattress and sleeping bag - all you need.

I picked up the Aero tonight. It has kind of a ruff idle and they didn't fix the dent but I couldn't walk away. The bmw had the oil light on, check engine light on, broken sunroof, rust starting under the gas filler door, and needed rear shocks. Oh and it had a bent rear wheel. Lucky for me the guy hardly looked at it when he took it as a trade in. So I imagine I need a throttle body and a tune up. Other than that it's sweet.

eh, they do kind of idle rough - especially the automatics. it might just be normal. if you need a throttle, you'll know it. it will start stalling and whatnot. the idle can be turned up a bit with the tech 2 which helps a bit. i can do that for ya when you come around.

sounds like the bimmer was doing what they do, haha. i've worked on some e46's....not impressed at all.

I shouldn't have said idle. The tach is rock solid. It just rumbles at idle and the steering wheel vibrates. Like an old truck. But when you're moving it's another animal. It's like Cringer and Battle Cat. Maybe I'll name it Battle cat.

This sounds like normal 9-5 operation to me. The steering wheel kind of vibrates, especially with an automatic in "D"

When I got my 9-5 it ran like crap. Hmmm, 122K with the ORIGINAL spark plugs? I wonder why... New plugs, and yeah... fine.

Madness. How would a car with that level of build quality be allowed to sit at stop lights feeling like a model-T? I'm also having a hard time finding 2.5" speakers to replace the beat ones in the dash. It's like looking for those 4X10s in the C900s all over again. But I love this car already. I don't think I've gotten out of the car without turning to look at it 10 times. Also my confidence in the turns is back.

If it's actually that bad, it might have a flat upper motor mount or possibly a bad trans mount. They definitely do mildly vibrate through the steering - the rack is mounted to the sub frame in 9-5's, and it's more noticeable in automatic cars when you are stopped in drive, but if it's "as-normal" it should be only slightly worse than "the average car" 99's with the dual lower dogbone mounts you can really "feel" the engine running as you drive along

I guess I'd need to drive another one or let somebody who has one drive mine. Maybe there'll be another 9-5 at Carlisle.

You need Nick T's from Genuine Saab Poly trans mount upgrade and a new upper motor mount more than likely - with the new spark plugs - the car will feel as solid as it'll ever be with that combination.

I would also recommend you test the ACC to make sure there aren't any issues with the motors. To do this, have the ACC on, and pres and hold "auto" and "off" at the same time. The system will go through a self-test cycle and after a few moments will display the number of faults on the left side of the display, and the code of the fault on the right side. Codes 08 and 13 are bad ones.

When I got my 02 9-5 almost a year ago it had one code and I didn't give it as much attention as I probably should have. I'm now stuck with a car that only blows air on the windshield (lucky, really as stuck on the floor is much worse in winter). The fix requires a $300-400 part and most of a day...

Thanks for the tips! Plugs will be in tomorrow. I ordered gold/platinum diamond series quatro sparks. They came with a sticker. Kidding. I got NGKs PFR6H-10.
Stromer, I got a 0 when I held in Auto and Off. I assume that means no faults?
