Racing Brake Upgrades

I've emailed Warren at Racing Brake (racingbrake.com) last week about a Big Brake Kit for the 9-2X and practically overnight he emailed back that their website now had a front BBK for our cars. Their BBK uses the stock caliper with an upgraded caliper support. They also have replacement rotors, Hawk brake pads, and Goodridge SS brake hoses. They have a rear BBK for the WRX and Impreza so maybe they'll have that for the 9-2X as well.

And no, I'm not connected with them in any way.

I think it would be easier and probably more cost efficient to pick up some sti hubs with the brembo brakes. I am pretty sure the older hubs are interchangable with the newer hubs, although wheel choice may change, but the brembo's are worth every penny.

I have seen many wrx guys swapping out to the new sti set-up, due to the increase in sti guys going with even bigger brakes.

so im guessing the 9-2 brakes are actually different from the standard wrx brakes then? always interesting to see what they actually changed on them, they were pretty vague about it in all the press/dealer material.

There shouldnt be any difference in the 9-2 brakes to the wrx brakes. Although starting in 2006 the wrx brakes were all 4 pot's in the front and 2 pots in the rear from the factory (or 2 & 2 cant rember) compared to the previous years of just regular calipers. The sti setup uses a big brake brembo caliper and rotor. Very good upgrade for wrx guys or saab guys now. Older sti's were all 4 pot calipers that you can easily find in junkyards in japan.

STi's are 4 pot up front and 2 in the back so I think that the WRX would be 2 and 2 as to not have a chance to stop better then an STi.......

FWIW, here are some pics of the big brakes on my Accord.

And if the 9-2X is identical to the WRX, then THIS KIT would work very nicely for the front.

I'm a Wilwood dealer and would be happy to help with any questions that I can. I'd be happy to put together a great deal for you guys if there is interest in this kit.

Not exactly sure what the rules are for selling here but I'd be happy to make a nice donation if there were interest in a group purchase or something. Or if this is against the rules, please remove the post.

Pete,

Email coming soon. Take a look & let me know what you think. Since I don't know these cars as well as you guys do, I'm going to assume that there is no difference from a WRX & that 2004 is no different than 2005 (Wilwood only lists up to 2004)
